The grocery clerk dragged one bag after another across the barcode reader. With each beep, the display jumped the total upwards. Three dollars more, five dollars, a buck ninety-nine. A Well-rounded Candy Diet
What did a well-rounded diet of chocolate, sugar, and nougat look like? Breakfast of scrambled Snickers and a side of Tootsie Rolls? A Hershey’s sandwich for lunch? Who’d need snacks? Not me. My entire diet would be a snack. I might occasionally sneak a stalk of celery or a cherry tomato, but it would be out of desire, not necessity. Vitamins? Minerals? Who needs ‘em? Not when you’re shooting for hypoglycemia.
